Twin Geek Terms of Service
Last updated: September 26, 2026 (beta)
Twin Geek is in beta. These Terms may be updated as the Service grows and as our business registration is completed. We'll tell you about important changes before they take effect.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Twin Geek, including twingeek.app and any related apps (the "Service"), operated by Twin Geek, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada ("Twin Geek", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can use Twin Geek
You must be at least 13 years old, or the older minimum age that applies in your country, to use Twin Geek. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and it can't be changed afterwards except through support. Players aged 13 to 17 have teen accounts with extra protections: adults can't send them friend requests or private messages, their profiles and gaming handles are hidden from adults outside shared lobbies, and their chats have stricter filtering. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use the Service if you have previously been banned from it, or where the law does not allow it.
2. Beta service
Twin Geek is currently in beta. Features may change, be paused or be removed, the Service may be unavailable at times, and it may contain errors. We'll try to give notice before significant changes, but we can't guarantee that the Service will always be available or work without interruption.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date. Each account is for one person.
- Keep your password, 2-step verification device and recovery codes secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- We strongly recommend turning on 2-step verification.
- Tell us straight away at hello@twingeek.app if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- Usernames must not impersonate other people, brands or Twin Geek staff, or infringe anyone's rights. Some usernames, including official Twin Geek names, are reserved. We may change or reclaim a username that breaks these Terms.
4. What Twin Geek does
Twin Geek helps players find teammates, join or host lobbies, schedule sessions, form squads and chat. We don't operate, publish or sell the games themselves. We don't guarantee that you'll find a match, that a lobby or session will go ahead, or how other players will behave.
5. Community rules
You must follow our Community Guidelines, available in the app, which form part of these Terms. You must not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or stalk anyone, or promote violence or self-harm.
- Post hate speech or content that attacks people based on who they are.
- Post sexual content involving minors, or attempt to groom, exploit or sexually contact anyone under 18. We have zero tolerance for this and report it to the relevant authorities.
- Share anyone's personal or private information without their permission.
- Impersonate another person, a brand, or Twin Geek or its staff.
- Spam, scam, phish, or sell or trade accounts, boosting, cheats or other services that break a game's rules.
- Upload malware, or try to access accounts, data or systems you're not authorized to access.
- Scrape, copy or harvest data from the Service, or use bots or automated tools without our written permission.
- Create additional accounts to get around a suspension or ban.
- Post content that is illegal or that you don't have the right to share.
6. Playing with other people
Other players are not vetted by Twin Geek. Be careful about what you share: never share your password, and think carefully before sharing personal details or meeting anyone in person. Use the report tools if someone makes you feel unsafe. Your interactions with other players, including on third-party platforms such as Discord, PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam or Nintendo, are your own responsibility.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post, such as your profile, bio, pictures, messages and lobby details. You give Twin Geek a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and adapt that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except where it has been shared with others or must be kept for safety or legal reasons. Your profile information is visible to other users as described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for your content and must have the right to post it.
8. Messages, moderation and enforcement
Messages are visible to the people you send them to. To keep the community safe, we use automated tools to flag potentially harmful messages, including harassment, hate speech, threats and self-harm. When a message is flagged or reported, authorized moderators review it along with a few messages before and after it for context. Twin Geek's founders may also review conversations when needed for safety, support or legal reasons, and every such review is logged. Depending on what happened, we may hide content, give a warning, suspend an account temporarily or ban it permanently, and we may act without notice where needed for safety. If you think we made a mistake, contact hello@twingeek.app and we'll review it.
9. Ratings, reputation and badges
Reputation reflects ratings from players you've played with, and badges are awarded automatically based on your activity. Rate honestly. We may adjust or remove ratings, reputation or badges that are manipulated, abusive or awarded in error. They are community signals, not guarantees about a player.
10. Official updates
Twin Geek publishes official announcements, which may appear when you sign in, on Discover and on the official Twin Geek profile. Twin Geek may also send you official messages, and occasionally gifts such as cosmetic items or Geek Points, from the official Twin Geek account. Gifts have no cash value and can be removed if given in error or used to break these Terms. Twin Geek staff will never ask for your password or 2-step codes.
11. Games, trademarks and third-party services
All game names, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Twin Geek is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any game publisher or platform. Links to third-party services are provided for convenience, and those services have their own terms and privacy policies.
12. Twin Geek's rights
The Twin Geek name, logo, software and design belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service in line with these Terms. You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell any part of the Service except where the law allows it.
13. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
14. Fees
Twin Geek is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we'll show you the price and any additional terms before you buy.
Geek Points \[APPLIES ONCE GEEK POINTS LAUNCH\]
- Geek Points are a virtual currency you can buy and use only for cosmetic items in Twin Geek, such as avatars, frames, banners, name flair, stickers and emojis. You receive a limited licence to use them. They aren't money, have no cash value, and can't be sold, traded, cashed out or used for betting.
- You can buy points for yourself or as a gift for a friend. Gifted points belong to the recipient and can't be re-gifted.
- Every purchase is confirmed before you pay. You can undo a point purchase within 15 minutes if none of those points have been spent. Once points are spent, you give up any right to cancel that purchase, where the law allows.
- Players aged 13 to 17 can buy up to $100 CAD of points per day, including gifts.
- If a purchase is refunded or charged back, we remove the points from that purchase and any items bought with them, including from a gift recipient's account. We may pause or suspend purchasing on accounts with repeated refunds, chargebacks or suspected fraud.
- Purchases through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to those stores' terms, and their refunds are handled by the store.
- Prices are shown in Canadian dollars plus applicable taxes. \[CONFIRM CURRENCIES AND TAX HANDLING WITH THE PAYMENT PROVIDER.\]
15. Ending your account
You can stop using Twin Geek at any time and delete your account in Settings. Your account is hidden straight away, and you can restore it by signing in within 30 days; after that it can't be restored. If you sign up again later with the same email, you'll get a brand-new account with none of your previous data, and we may note internally that the email was used before, to help prevent ban evasion. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if required by law, or to protect users or the Service. Sections that by their nature should continue, including 7, 11, 12 and 16 to 19, survive after your account ends.
16. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including about availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or the conduct of other users.
17. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Twin Geek is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100 CAD. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
18. Indemnity
Where the law allows, you agree to compensate Twin Geek for claims and costs arising from content you post or your breach of these Terms.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Nova Scotia. If you're a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings under the laws of the country where you live. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you continue using Twin Geek after that, you accept the updated Terms.
